UPDATE: We are at Koomer campground in spots 9, 10, 12, and 13. Only 2 cars per site.

We will be camping at Red River Gorge at the world famous Koomer Ridge Recreation Area. The campground has flush toilets and hot showers. I'll plan to go down on Friday AM and get sites. Cost will be around $8 per tent per night (estimate).

Hike on Saturday RSVP: http://www.tristatehi...

Camp Fri/Sat Night RSVP: http://www.tristatehi...

I could tell you all about how wonderful this campground is, but instead I created this wonderful brochure available in our files section on the left or you can click on this link http://files.meetup.c...

Directions: I-75 South about 75 miles, I-64 East 23 miles, Exit #98 to the Mountain Parkway, Exit #33 to KY-11, Left for .1 miles, Right on Campton Rd KY-15, Drive east 4 miles, Koomer Ridge Rd is on your left.

If anyone is going down on Thursday, please let me know, I'd like you grab sites on Friday morning. Otherwise, I'm going down on Friday and will grab sites around 11am. I will put up a sign on the big board when you come in and let you know what sites we have.

I'll tape a sign on the side of the coffee machine at the rest stop to the right of the exit when you get off the highway in case we can't get sites. Last year we were forced to say somewhere else in the fall - it could happen again. Check for the sign to make sure. I'll also post and update to the website with my iphone. Last fall we had to stay at John Swift near the top center of this map http://files.meetup.c...

We had some great quotes again this time. I didn't write them down, so I don't remember exactly. I do remember that perhaps they shouldn't be posted! :)

Nina and I plan to get there around 9:30 to 10 am Friday. Koomer has a roof over it doesn't it?

I'll be there. As a survivor of an IN event called the "Massacre," I am intimately acquainted with rain and mud. Ask Heather for the dirt on those Memorial Day weekends.

Red River Gorge is in a dry county. If you plan on drinking you may want to pick something up before you leave.

    •  I had a great time! Great group of people to hang out with around the campfire. (I wish I could have made it until 3 am. I was pooped!) Enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting new people. Thanks Scotty and Holly for all that you do!
    •  The campouts are as much fun as the hikes! Thanks everyone for breakfast!!

Had a great time camping and hanging out by the campfire with the group. Nice fire on a cold night. BTW Did anyone pick up my cooking stuff - grill cage, brush and tongs. I left them hanging on the pole.
    •  Great time! Thanks Scotty, and thanks again Tim for keeping us warm Saturday night!
    • HIKER
Great camping trip. With Friday's forecast calling for rain (and a tornado watch until 8pm), I didn't expect many folks on Friday, but we had 14 die hards. Had a great time, about 20 on Sat night. Lots of great food (yummy Irish stew, big breakfasts, hot French bread, grilled fish, etc.). Lots of laughs and fun stories, stayed up until 3am on Sat night around the fire.

I had a great time! I feel like I have made a lot of new friends and it was great to see some familiar faces as well. The hikes that we took are some of my favorites. We also went on a couple of trails that I hadn't been on before but I will definitely go on them again.

Loved the rain Friday night. I was inspired by the emerging chefs!
    •  I guess we had good Koomer Ridge Karma (as Holly was hoping for). Beautiful, crisp fall evening, toasty fire and warm camping companions. Always my favorite of the year :)
    •  Scotty & Holly arrived early on Friday & claimed the sites for the rest of us. Thanks to everyone for sharing & cooking food for dinner Sat night & Sun morning, especially Jim & Nina's Irish Stew. Did ya scooba for that seafood? LOL.

Very nice camp gounds, well watched and secure.
