In January we are setting up a winter hike in RRG with "camping" in the RRG Hostel. Think slumber party with all your friends in one big room. We check in on Friday night 1/15 and check out on Sunday 1/17.

See the place: http://www.truenortho... (very pretty inside)

We can fit 22 people in bunks, and 3 more on air mattresses (last 3 people who signed up are on air mattresses, these were wait list folks). Plan is to stay Friday night and Staturday night. Hike on Saturday, maybe on Sunday too. Sleeping on rows of bunk beds in a big loft with lots of other people.

Cost will be $38 per person which will pay for your bunk bed Fri/Sat, hot breakfast cooked for you each morning (and no dishes to wash), showers, earplugs, and taxes. If you like to go to bed early and would like to have a non-loft room for a little more privacy the cost will be $44 in the 6 person room or $48 in the 4 person room, please put your room request in the RSVP comments. I will make every attempt to accommodate requests in a fair and reasonable way (but there are not guarantees - so no pouting if you don't get your way). Everyone will be charged $38 per person to RSVP, if you get a non-loft room, you will be asked to pay the difference once we are on site. Please only sign up when you are sure that you are able to go, NO REFUNDS on this trip.

The hostel is very nice with a large common room downstairs to sit around and talk into the wee hours of the night. Pack some drinks and snacks for the evenings. There is a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner (which you have to pay for).

Specific hiking details will be posted later.

Fun!!! I vote for doing this again next year. The second annual "RRG Hostile Hostel and Tramp Trekking trip". It deserves its own t-shirt.

No Zack, I thought we could get an early start on drinking, not hiking. By the way, forecasted high for Saturday is 49! I'm thinking I can leave my long johns at home.

Peggy, they have air mattresses for you to use, but it might be safe for one of you to bring one just in case they have an issue with one of theirs.

Those of us who are on the air mattresses--do we bring our own? I have one I can use.

Does anyone have good directions on how to get there? The website said google maps and mapquest were incorrect.

I'm opening up 3 more slots for the Red River Gorge Trip. The only limitation, is that these 3 slots are for air mattresses, not actual bunks. Scotty

Alright we can get a "Mobile" report from Heather! Hey Debbie, you better not snore or you'll end up in the snow drift! Your Halloweeny "octalarms" will not help you. Hey spiders have 8 limbs too! :-p
