Weather.com calls for Sunny and Warm on Sunday so join us for a 4 mile hike about. (ok so sunny and warm is compared to the rest of the week-expect temperatures of 26 degrees and partly sunny, but its the best I can do)

Miami Whitewater is a beautiful Hamilton County park located near Harrison, OH. It is one of the county's largest and boasts many beautiful trails, both wooded and paved. We will be hitting the wooded ones this time since the ground should be nice and frozen which means NO MUD!!! We will do the Parcours, Oak Tree, and Badlands Trails. Each trail is a loop between 1.5-2 miles each which added together averages about 4 miles. You can do all three or exit at the end of any of the loops if you wish. Dogs are most welcomed, but please be aware Hamilton County Parks District is strict about the leash law. They generally do not do warnings like the city parks in lieu of a ticket. A parking permit is required to enter the park and there is usually an attendant on duty. Passes are $5 for the year or $2 for the day. (I consider it the best investment I make each year)

To get to the trails, when you enter the park from Hope Road, turn right at the first stop sign. When the road ends, take a left. You will see a large parking lot on your left about 1/2 mile down. Park there to begin hike.

If entering from other entrance, (not sure of street), just go straight until you see the parking lot. (the road ends at a ballfield and is looped so if you pass it, you will bring you back.

We can head to Cracker Barrel or El Marachi's in Harrison or go to one of the greasy spoons in Miamitown after for food after. There is also a free talk about wolves at 2pm at the Nature Center if anyone is interested in attending before going for food. I am quite interested if the group is.

Here is the GPS data log for one of the three trails we did in the fast group: http://maps.google.com/maps... If you click on the end of the route, it will show you all the technical data from the hike.

neither. we are meeting at the wooded trails trailhead. Not the lot near the harbor. The directions in the description I gave for Hope Road entrance is the Harbor area entrance if this helps.

Is this the big parking lot near the restroom area or the smaller one at the back of the main one?

Also, because all 3 trails start at same lot, we can easily divide into fast, medium and tour groups. I will take the tour group as usual.

Please note, I posted the address to the nursery by mistake. It has been corrected above, but in case anyone is planning to meet there, please don't.

    •  Thanks, Desiree for planning this event. It was a cold day, but had a great time with great people. I look forward to other hikes at Miami Whitewater Forest.
    •  Great Hike.

It was a nice and easy pace.
    •  Still a lot of snow in the woods which made for easy hiking. Cold but pretty! I enjoyed meeting new people as well as catching up with "old" friends. Lunch at El Mariachi was great too! Thanks Desiree for getting me out of the house and getting some exercise with a wonderful group of people!
    •  What a perfect day for a hike! I really enjoyed myself.
    •  Enjoyed the hike and meeting new people. First time hiking at Whitewater. Plan to go back. Scenic in the snow.
    •  Icicles on the trees, Icicles in my hair. What a great hike. Thanks Desiree.
    •  Great place to hike. It had been many years since I had been there.
    •  I went on 2 trails and saw a naturalist deliver a wonderful presentation on the wolf. The people I met were interesting & informed. There were many, internationally, well travelled hikers. All thoroughly enjoyed being on a dirt trail.
    •  This was my first hike and I had a great time.
    •  Nice crisp winter day for hiking. The trails are very well maintained and offer very nice scenery. I plan to go back in the spring. Thanks for organizing Desiree!
    •  It was a great day with temps in the 30's, a warm spell after teens! LOL. People did a good job controlling their exhuberant selves and dogs. I'm glad we're embracing the New Yr by planning and attending more winter hikes in each of the county parks. A few of us read that we'd meet in the left parking lot but we called Desiree and she gave us the right directions. We arrived with a caravan of about 6 cars! We'll work together to make sure we have the right directions for our next hike.
    •  Invigorating! Good time with a great group of people!
    •  What a pretty park! I really enjoyed the hike and look forward to doing more.

Great that we split up into 2 groups. One of my favorite parks.
