Sorry Tri-state-ers for the late posting -- I thought I'd posted this a month ago.
Re: [kt50] KT-KT one week to go! Saturday, December 5, 2009 10:55 AM From: "Tom McGinnis" <sloetoe@yahoo.com> To: kt50@yahoogroups.com Cc: indytrailrunners@yahoogroups.com Sounds like we're looking at this: 6pm FRI Start at DEAM (KT northbound) 4am SAT Turnaround at DELANEY (KT southbound) 6pm SAT Finish at DEAM 7pm SAT eat eat eat (where?) (I65 area, or Salem (Chinese, Mexican, VEGAN?!?) 8pm SAT Sleeeeeep (I-65 no-tell motel? DELANEY?) (Sweet recovery) 8am SUN (open agenda, including hashing in L'ville at 1pm) I teach Fridays until 2:00pm, and the soonest I can leave Indy would be 3:00pm, putting me at the southern end of the KT at 5:oopm. Earliest. Earliest. Earliest. With a 5-6pm start time from Deam, it seems as if your plan is to take the first half slow/overnight, and do the second half -- when "tired" takes on teeth -- during daylight hours. (As well, if you hit the turnaround before dawn, you get to "run into the sun" which is a beautiful thing to do on the KT's east-facing escarpment.) Because I have a heavy Friday am and Monday evening teaching load, and we're at the end of the semester, I'll have to wait til late to really nail down my own timing. But I will be available for support or miles -- not picky which -- so if Curt/whomever want to burn some miles, or trade off support, or both/whatever, that'd be great. Regarding Deam Lake -- they will have cut off water at this point, and would not be an advisable locale. FWIW, for myself, I would like to 1) do support 2) "speed-hike" overnight from Delaney to Deam, 24 hours Friday-Saturday 3) sleep out in the gear for my expected Xmas/NYE Appalachian Trail hike. These things are at least somewhat contradictory, so..... we'll see. --- On Fri, 12/4/09, iamtheshrub <russgoodman@hotmail.com> wrote: > OK, so it looks like we have four > crazy guys to run a hundred miles on the Knobstone Trail > next weekend.
